Today Forever Panstoria announced that they are ending support for Memory Manager (and StoryBook Creator) on January 31st, 2016. This really doesn't change anything for Memory Manager. You can still use it as you have been. However, when you need to reinstall it on a new computer, you will need to purchase Historian from them. For more details, see the post below:
December 2014
You may continue to use Memory Manager with no worries! However, when the time comes, it will not be possible to install the software on a new computer or re-install it on your current computer. At that time, you will need to purchase HISTORIAN software. The transition will be seamless, as the HISTORIAN software is identical to MEMORY MANAGER 4.0 in every way except the name! Your Memory Vault and all your organization of categories & tags will REMAIN INTACT.
NOTE: Historian has the benefit of continuing updates to the software, which can no longer take place for Memory Manager.
Fall 2013 (Archived)
My Recommendation:
Upgrade Memory Manager to Historian
(If you choose to purchase, I would really appreciate it if you would use my link -in blue or PANSTORIA at top of page - so it's credited to my account. I do not work for Panstoria, but they know former CM Consultants are referring customers their way and will reward us for that. Thank you!)
Your Memory Manager program will be converted over to the Panstoria format. This entitles you to tech support and updates. This is the way that our photo vaults will be properly cared for under the new provider. By the way, it will look and feel almost identical to what we know and are used to. Basically only the name will change - and of course, we will benefit from the services & support offered.
NOTE: The HELP CONTENTS button (the ? in the blue circle, upper right) within Memory Manager is no longer active.
(The Help Contents are all accessible in Historian)
To OPEN your Memory Vault the first time in Historian after installation:
Be sure Memory Manager is closed. Open Historian. You will be prompted to find your vault.
Go to COMPUTER > C-DRIVE > MY MEMORY VAULT (which looks like a safe) Click to open.
Helpful information to make an informed decision:
a. Historian is 39.95 Purchase by clicking HERE
b. Memory Manager and Historian are essentially the same program.
c. You can open Memory Manager 3.0 and Memory Manager 4.0 Memory VAULTS in Historian
d. Historian is licensed for use on one computer only.
e. You can run Memory Manager and Historian simultaneously on the same computer. You can't open the same Memory Vault at the same time in both MM and Historian, but after you open a Memory Vault in Historian, you will still have access to it in Memory Manager 4.0. Note: Memory Manager 3.0 vaults cannot be reopened in MM3 once they have been converted to MM4 or Historian.
f. Once Historian is working you may remove the Memory Manager program, but you do not have to. Historian contains every feature of Memory Manager, including the patently Perfectly Clear Technology (added sometime in 2014). You will not lose any images or memory vaults by uninstalling Memory Manager. You are removing programs, not your data. The program is separate from the memory vault filled with photos.
